California Kingsnake
This native snake occurs throughout most of the San Diego area. It can be found in coastal and desert areas alike. This reptile is non-venomous and harmless to humans. It's also commonly found in the pet trade. Most specimens have bands like the one in this picture. Some have a stripe running the length of the body. Learn more

Brandon's Brief Bio

I've been fascinated with snakes since I caught my first garter snake as a kid. That was nearly thirty years ago, and not much has changed. These animals still fascinate me. But instead of growing out of my hobby the way some people do, I grew into it. I've found a way to share my passion for animals and nature with others, through my educational programs.
